 Spotlight News

Rotary Club of Barbados South

Pictured above is a snapshot from our panel discussion entitled, 'Benefits & Challenges Youth Encounter when In Service', which took place virtually on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023. Highlighted in red were the members from our panel from left to right IPADRR Lyanne Lowe, Rtn. Shem Scantlebury and Rotaract President Graham Belle, whilst highlighted in yellow/green was our moderator PP. George Connolly.
Pictured above is a behind the scenes look at our Club's Retreat which was hosted on May 17th at PomMarine Hotel. The objective of the session was to create an environment where incoming Directors could gain a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of their particular portfolio which was led by PDG Sonya. This was followed by a Fundraising and Promotion session facilitated by Dr. Cross from Iowa State University and concluded with a presentation by PE Marcel, who gave participants a first-hand peek at the strategic plan for 2023 to 2024.
The final Summer Luau Cruise 2023 Committee meeting took place on May 18th to solidify plans and surprises for the May 20th event.
A hearty thank-you to everyone for supporting our 2023 edition of the Summer Luau Cruise after two years of 'lockdowns' and echoes of 'unprecedented times' a success. We could not have done it without you and are eager to use the proceeds from the event to aid with our club's Back to School project.
Yes, we did it! The Club is a recipient of Rotary Zone 34 Public Image Platinum (Highest Honors) Citation 2023. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽⭐️to all who played a part in the achievement of this citation. Congratulations to the other recipients!
The Mothers' Day Outreach Project that started in 2015, saw club members presenting hampers of groceries, other household items and personal care items to at least 10 mothers deemed worthy of this recognition. Club members contribute towards the cost of the hampers which are presented to the mothers on their special day. Above images are 2 of the 13 mothers this year humbly receiving their gifts.
Pictured above are our very own Rtn. Kerryann, President of the Barbados Council for the Disabled (second from left) and Rtn. Kaye, President of the Barbados Bar Association (third from left) were featured in the Friday, May 19th newspaper as they engaged in meaningful discussion for equal access to the justice system.
The news of our public image citation was shared with the Rotary Club of Umhlanga, Durban, South Africa by Rtn. Susanna during her visit. They expressed a huge congratulations to our PR committee and club.
Congratulations to PP Captain Randolph and Cheryl who tied the knot on April 15th, 2023. Wishing you many blissful years ahead on your new chapter together.
