More individuals with disabilities and their families now have more tools to develop or build kitchen gardens. That's because the Queen's College Interact Club, the Rotary Club of Barbados South and Eco Rebel collaborated for their Good Green Deeds Project, and donated ten boxes filled with plants, recipe books, seedlings and gardening tools to the members of the Barbados Council for the Disabled.
Wednesday April 5th was the launch of the Barbados Council for People with Disabilities (BCD) project in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, My Inclusive School, to introduce DAD (Disability Awareness Day) ambassadors.

“Under the theme My Inclusive School the Barbados Council for the Disabled is seeking to bring increased awareness to the nation’s 61, 669 from pre-primary to tertiary to create an inclusive education system for all,” Tudor said.

During her address, Deputy Chief Education Officer Joy Adamson reflected upon her time as a teacher at Combermere School the alma mater of president of BCD Kerryann Ifill, who is visually impaired, and the late Kregg Nurse, who suffered from muscular dystrophy.

She then said that special needs students should be integrated into mainstream schools, adding there were plans to facilitate such classrooms.

We highlight and celebrate excellence in the chosen vocation of our very own Rotarian Maurice Bailey, who along with his team restored CBC services on Good Friday after an almost 5 hours outage.
Rotary International

The keynote speakers at the 2023 Rotary International Convention are transforming health care, rethinking cities, advancing the cause of peace, and working to protect our environment. They share a vision of a more sustainable, equitable world. When they take the stage in Melbourne, Australia, 27-31 May, they’ll tell how that vision can be realized – not just in the years to come, but right now.

With decades of experience from working to eradicate polio, Rotary members can play a key role in publicizing the power of vaccines. World Immunization Week, 24-30 April, gives Rotary and Rotaract clubs an opportunity to raise awareness of the part that vaccines play in saving lives — as well as of the critical need to continue supporting global polio vaccination for children and other life-saving vaccines for all.
