Pictures above highlight Mr. Toney Olton's presentation to the club on the Social and Emotional Learning Project. Present also was Mr. Robin Douglas, the principal of The Lodge School where the pilot project is to be launched.
The club made a donation of $10,000 to the Barbados National Youth Symphony Orchestra out of proceeds from the Best of Youth IX Concert "Ode to Joy". Codey Best (left), orchestra member and clarinetist received the donation on the orchestra's behalf from PP Irving (right), and President Brian (centre). Being able to once again contribute to the youth through music after a break initiated by the COVID-19 pandemic, was extremely gratifying for the club.
On May 27th the incoming board of the Rotaract Club of South Barbados held a retreat to discuss their plans for the upcoming year. The session was led by PR Khrystal Walcott and also featured an interactive talk by our very own PDG Sonya who spoke about leading a balanced life when in service.
A huge thank you to those who participated in the Beach Clean-up of the Oistin's Miami area on June 10th in recognition of World Environment Day. We joined with Banks Holdings Limited under the theme #beatplasticpollution to contribute our efforts to the preservation of our coastal environment. A purposeful and enlightening morning!
On June 20th the Queen's College Interact Club received a beautiful gift from Past Interact President Kenya Franklyn, a little library. This library was conceptualised by Kenya, made by her grandfather (PP John Cabral of RCoB), also giving Kenya support was her dad PP Shawn Franklyn, also of RCoB. Additionally, President Brian and PE Marcel were on hand to witness the handover.
Please note, the library now needs some books so that the students can borrow and read and as a result donations are welcomed.

Agrokids at Arthur Smith Primary happily and proudly displaying their recent harvest of lettuce before sharing with their families. Their consistency is heartwarming.
"Save Ya Cents" was the theme of the Financial Literacy Seminar hosted by our club with sole presenter Nikita Gibson on June 17th. Access to the seminar was via face-to-face and Zoom. Rotarian Nikita received a Five-Star rating! Epic!! The session was practical and very informative. It was geared towards making wise financial decisions and was presented in a style that everyone could understand.

A big congratulations to our very own Rotarian Kaye on being called to the Bar in Trinidad.
A hearty thank-you to everyone for supporting our "The Return of the Boogie Knights Band" held on June 10th at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre. By all accounts the evening was legendary. PE Marcel's review captured the event. "Oh, what a night...music, singing every word...friends, some not seen for years...sound, quality...team, every team member turned out and ensured our patrons received an EPIC experience...Rating...A+"

After imagining the future of Rotary in Melbourne, Australia, members and speakers at the 2023 Rotary International Convention looked ahead to next year's gathering in Singapore and being able to share hope with the world by focusing on mental health and well-being.
This Rotary year, we’ve heard President Jennifer Jones talk about how we play a vital role in creating club experiences that are welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable for current and prospective members.
She talks about how we need to know what new and prospective members expect from us and what they want to get out of their Rotary involvement to create a memorable experience. She suggests using an entrance interview or survey.
Three Rotaract Clubs of Barbados are currently representing the island at the 2023 District 7030 Conference in Tobago, which brings together the 45 clubs in the district.
The conference concluded on June 27th which consisted of insightful training sessions on membership engagement, leadership, financial planning, project management and more!
