Rotary Club of Barbados South Earns Top District 7030 Honours

The Rotary Club of Barbados South was proudly recognized by District 7030 for another outstanding year of service, learning, and generosity, receiving several prestigious awards from the District Governor in recognition of the club's commitment to Rotary's mission.

Among the club's achievements was the Gold Award for the District Governor's Childhood Obesity Prevention Programme, acknowledging the club's meaningful contribution to improving the health and well-being of children through impactful community initiatives.

We were awarded Platinum for the District Learning Challenge, reflecting the strong commitment of our members to continuous learning and leadership development. This accomplishment highlights the importance our club places on equipping Rotarians with the knowledge and skills needed to better serve their communities under the guidance of Learning Facilitator PDG Sonya.

The club's efforts to promote Rotary and share its impact with the wider community were also recognized with a Platinum Citation in the Zone 33/34 EPIC Awards for Public Image, celebrating excellence in communicating Rotary's message and enhancing the club's public profile.  Well done Dir Graham and the PI team.

Our commitment to The Rotary Foundation was once again recognized as the club placed 7th in District 7030 for Foundation Giving. The Rotary Club of Barbados South also maintained its proud tradition of achieving 100% Every Rotarian, Every Year, demonstrating that every member contributed to the Foundation during the Rotary year.

In recognition of the club's overall excellence, the Rotary Club of Barbados South was awarded the prestigious Diamond Citation for Exemplary Contribution to the Goals and Objectives of District 7030. This highest level of recognition reflects the dedication, teamwork, and service-minded spirit of our members throughout the year.  RCBS was the only club in Barbados to be recognized in all award categories.

Individual excellence was also celebrated. Secretary Ryan  and PDG Sonya were honoured by the District Governor for their outstanding personal contributions and generosity beyond expectations, exemplifying Rotary's motto of Service Above Self.

Adding to these accomplishments, Sec Ryan has been appointed to serve as the District TRF Polio Plus Chairperson and the  District Polio plus society Coordinator. His appointment is a testament to the confidence the district has placed in his leadership and commitment to Rotary.  As usual, PDG Sonya continues her stelar service and will function as zone 33/34 Rotary Membership Coordinator.  RCBS is entirely proud of them both.

These achievements are a source of great pride for our club and reflect the dedication of every member. Together, we continue to make a meaningful difference in our communities while advancing the ideals and objectives of Rotary.

A Memorable Evening as the Torch Passes

The Rotary Club of Barbados South celebrated another successful year of service and leadership at its Installation Ceremony, where President Jacklyn officially handed over the chain of office to President Kerryann, who will lead the Club for the 2026–2027 Rotary year.

In her farewell address, President Jacklyn reflected on an exceptional year of achievement. She proudly announced that the Club had successfully recorded 31 active service projects in the project centre, a remarkable accomplishment made possible through the dedication, enthusiasm, and unwavering support of her Board and the entire membership. She thanked her team for their commitment, noting that their collective efforts also contributed to the Club's outstanding performance at the District level, where the Club received several prestigious awards and citations in recognition of its service, public image, learning, and support of The Rotary Foundation.

The evening also celebrated the outstanding contributions of individual members, with several Rotarians receiving awards for their service and commitment throughout the year. The highest individual honour, Rotarian of the Year, was presented to Director Graham, recognizing his exceptional dedication and contribution to the Club's success. 

Also recognized for her numerous years of exceptional contribution to the disabled community in Barbados, her work with the Barbados Council for the Disabled and her assistance with "AccessAbility - Pathways to Insependence," was Rosanna Tudor upon whom President Jacklyn conferred the honour of Paul Harris Fellow.

In her inaugural address, President Kerryann introduced the Board of Directors who will serve alongside her during the 2026–2027 Rotary year and shared her enthusiasm for building on the Club's strong foundation of service. She also had the pleasure of introducing Kerry Hinds, Director of the Department of Emergency Management as the Club's newest Honorary Rotarian, joining the distinguished ranks of the Club's existing Honorary Rotarians: PDG David Edwards, Major David Clarke, and Dr. the Hon. Kevin Greenidge.

The Installation Ceremony was an elegant and enjoyable occasion, marked by fellowship, celebration, and optimism for the year ahead. As one Rotary year concluded and another began, members reflected with pride on the Club's accomplishments while looking forward with confidence to another year of "Service Above Self."
